    Wine and Food Specialities

Piacenza is a land of great wines: the most famous are Gutturnio, Bonarda, Barbera, Ortrugo, Malvasia and Trebbianino. The traditional Piacenza cooking is based on very good thick minced pork salami and "coppa", the famous local tasty seasoned pork neck meat. Typical dishes include pasta and ravioli style first courses, such as "tortelli con la coda", "pisarei e fasò", "chicche della nonna", "panzerotti" and "anolini in brodo". The traditional second courses are "coppa arrosto" (fresh roasted "coppa"), "la picula" and the Piacenza style tripe. Such delicious specialities can neither be described in writing nor by picture, you have to come and try them!
